Tan Kin Lian - Perspectives Dishonest practice of auto-renewal
I often receive offers from online news websites. In the past, I subscribed to the websites to give support to the websites that I find useful and credible. 

I now stop accepting any offer. 

I found these websites to be dishonest. At the end of the trial period or offer period, they will automatically renew the subscription at the full rate. They do not allow the subscriber to opt out of the renewal. They do not even give any notice before activating the renewal. 

I have unsubscribed from SPH Media, South China Morning Post, New York Times, Motley Fool, Curiosity Stream, etc.

I will only support websites and apps that operate honestly, i.e. they give me a reminder and allow me to decide whether to renew the subscription.
