Tan Kin Lian - Perspectives Integrity of the voting process
1. I read several comments that suggested that the voting could be rigged, e.g. in presidential election 2023.
2. I do not agree with these comments. 
3. The voters voted on their ballots and put them into the boxes.
4. The boxes are sealed at the end of the polling day. 
5. The polling agents are allowed to accompany the ballot boxes to the counting centers.
6. During the counting, the counting agents are asked to confirm the decision on doubtful votes - whether the vote should be counted or rejected.
7. The counting machine is a simple device to count the number of votes for each candidate. It is the same machine used to count bank notes. The counts are reliable. 
8. The election officials are civil servants. They are people of integrity. There is no reason to suspect that they will cheat. 
9. It may be possible for some ballot boxes to be switched in transit, if they are not accompanied by the polling agents. This does not appear to be the case.
10. The final results by polling station have a consistent pattern. There were no results that were so far out - that would suggest that the results were rigged. 
11. We should adopt a rationale approach. We should not make wild and unfounded speculation, and believe these speculation to be true.
