Singapore Should WP force a by-election in Sengkang GRC?
My friend said. 

Politics is never "clean", "straight-forward" and it often meant survival. In the case of WP:

1. Many want to extract the "pound of flesh" from the individual and party which is rightly so. But then if they did not call for a by-election are they doing something against the law or constitution?

In courts of law, history has shown, a capable lawyer can sometimes get a criminal clear of their charges. Should the lawyer with any decency, privy to known the truth, continue to defend the criminal?

2. Nothing in life is guaranteed. If should the absent-minded Singaporeans forget and the alternative party loses their GRC to the incumbent in the by-election, then what? It took how many decades to get a SMC let alone a GRC from the alternate party into parliament.

Are we prepared to continued to wait for another few decades? Standing on high moral grounds (what is done is not illegal) or survival?

3. Why are we so critical and demand more than a pound of flesh from rookies but we "act blur" or at most have "coffee shop grouses" when the incumbent committed so many what the public considered not correct or not right.

We demand for consistency but shouldn't the same be demanded for the incumbent without fear too? We all may have divided opinions but let us look at the long term ramifications. Can we afford the consequences?

My friend said that the WP should hold on to the Sengkang GRC, rather than risk it in a by-election. 
I am prepared to take the gamble. The WP may retain the seat in the by-election or may lose it. 

If they retain Seng Kang GRC, it will show the following:

1. The WP has moral courage, i.e. they do not hide behind legal ambiguity of the GRC system
2. It will set a precedent for PAP to show the same courage and integrity.

If the WP loses the by-election, they can win it back again in the future. It will not take decades to win it back. 

Can you vote. Do you agree that my view that WP should force a by-election for Sengkang GRC.
