Covid-19 crisis

Disappointment with the govt's handling of pandemic
My friend said.

It is without doubt that our authorities including the expert medical panel wants the best outcome for Singaporeans during this pandemic crisis. It is also to their best interest to ensure it happens because for some it is their "rice-bowl or reputation" at stake while for some individuals the prize of Premiership awaits.

Unfortunately, the large number of grievances on the ground I believe has something to do with trust for this administration.

One have to ask why the public comes up with slogans like "give you a drumstick and later take back a whole chicken". Its pent up frustrations and it is building. Its true that our policies handling Covid would need to change with each new development, new variant, but anger towards the policy makers are largely because

1. large amount of money had been poured in large companies (foreign and locals) with little to the backbone of our economy the SMEs,

2. claimed to have plenty of reserves but our refuse collection fees are going up so is our electricity and cost of living,

3. billion dollar spent on foreign workers but our isolation care for Covid infected individuals be it home or quarantine wards are in a mess,

4. then the public is even more confused as pertinent information sometimes come from not medical experts or panel but from individuals working in TH and has the gall to scold the public, etc.

The added emotional stress, financial stress and work stress did not help. These perhaps can partly explain why many are not appreciative of the policies dealing with Covid.

My comment
I agree with the disappointment expressed here.
