Restrictions on dine-in
The ministers announced a return to the Heightened Alert restrictions due to the increase in covid infections.

All food courts, food outlets and restaurants are not allowed to have dine-in customers. They can only sell food that are taken away from the premises.

This restriction has caused a severe loss of business to the establishments. Many of them suffer large losses and may have to close down their operations.

Is this restriction necessary?

I think that it is overdone.

The ministers could have imposed the following restrictions instead:

1. Spread the tables at a safe distance. This will probably reduce the occupancy by 50%.

2. Allow each table to be occupied by members of the same household or by fully vaccinated customers.

Under this arrangement, the outlets will see a smaller loss of business and, at the same time, help to contain the spread of the virus.
