Democracy Kills - Humphrey Hawksley
I am reading the book 'Democracy Kills" by Humphrey Hawksley.

I borrowed the e-book from the National Library and can view it on my mobile phone using the Libby app.

In his book, the author describes the implementation of democracy in several developing countries. He presented the successes and failures.

In many countries, the implementation of democracy has produced disastrous results. There is widespread corruption and civil strive and a regression in the living standards.

Hence the title of his book - Democracy Kills.

I have just read the opening paragraph and one chapter about the Ivory Coast.

This is a warning to the politically naive people who believe that democracy, and the right to vote, is the path to progress and happiness. It is not the case.

I recommend that they read this book. They do not have to accept the views of the author, but it should give them a perspective that they may not be aware of.
