America America was altruistic in an earlier period
For the past two decades, America has been seen as a hegemonic country that uses its military power to carry out wars on countries that it deemed to be bad for the global order.

Many people hold the view that America is abusing its power to promote its self interest and economic interest, rather than for the good of the world.

There was an earlier period where America was quite altruistic in the conduct of its foreign policy.

During the earlier stage of the second world war, America stayed neutral in the war between the European powers. America came into the war after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.

In siding with Britain and France in the war, America was able to get these  countries to agree to grant independence to their colonies after the war. 

At that time, America believed that countries should be independent and not under colonial rule. It was made out of altruism.

In recent decades, America has changed for the worse. I hope that America can return to its altruistic roots.
