Why the Canadians dislike China
My friend is a Chinese from South East Asia. He migrated to Canada many years ago and has been a Canadian citizen.

He has misgivings about Communist Party of China (CCP)  and its human rights abuse.

It is not the human rights abuse of the Uyghurs in Xinjiang. He thinks that the narrative of the western media about genocide and slave labor in Xinjiang is false.

He said that many Canadians dislike China for the detention and treatment of two Canadians, i.e. "two Michaels", in retaliation over the detention of Meng Wanzhou, CFO of Huawei, for extradition to America for alleged infringement of American law.

My friend said that Meng Wanzhou is allowed to live in comfort in Vancouver while waiting trial. Her extradition trail is also conducted in open court.

In contrast, the two Michaels are kept in prison in China. Their trial is held in secret. The results of that trial is not announced yet.

The ordinary Canadians are angry at the treatment of the two Michaels and consider it to be a serious abuse of their human rights.

I give my view.

It is unwise for the China government.to damage its international reputation through the treatment of the two Michaels. There are other ways to deal with the dispute with Canada, instead of antagonizing a large majority of the population in Canada.

I hope that the China government will review their stand on this matter and release these two Canadians ahead of the result of the extradition trial of Meng Wanzhou.
