Smart Nation
Change in Corp Pass
I received an email from the government announcing a change in the process for Corp Pass. It stated:
From 11 April 2021, the login process for Corppass will require the user to verify his or her identity via Singpass first before access is granted to transact with government digital services.
After clicking on 'Log in with Corppass', users will be directed to log in via Singpass, before gaining access to the digital service or selecting the relevant UEN identity to transact for. Here is an illustration of this change.
When Corp Pass was introduced several years ago, I gave the relevant agency my feedback. I said that the Corp Pass was an unnecessary and complicated process. It is better to allow the public to use their SingPass, rather than create another login to login to the government websites.
At that time, I received a reply justifying the use of CorpPass. The person said that CorpPass is necessary and provided a nonsensical explanation.
Obviously, they were not interested to consider my point of view.
Finally, after several years, the government agency has now acknowledged that CorpPass is not necessary and they will revert to SingPass.
It took the agency several years to realize that they have an inefficient and troublesome system. In the meantime, a lot of time and resources have been wasted.
I wonder if our Smart Nation people are that smart after all?

Vote - Do you agree that the agency should not have introduced CorpPass in the first place?
