Positive responses to challenges in a mock AGM
I wish to share my experience about how to be positive and helpful. I am grateful for the people who responded in this helpful manner.
I conducted a mock up AGM using the Zoom platform. The participants have to use their laptop, desktop or mobile phone to participate in the virtual AGM. They have to participate in the meeting held on Zoom and to vote on the motions using using their device.
It is quite challenging to handle the Zoom meeting and the voting. To guide the participants, I send out a video to the participants in advance and asked them to watch the video before the trial AGM.
Most of the participants watched the video and were able to participate in the trial AGM quite smoothly.
A few participants faced the following difficulties:
a) One participant was not able to use the register link. (He did not watch the video).
b) Someone reported through the audio was broken.
c) One participant said that he found the technology to be overwhelming
I was grateful for the positive response from other participants who hleped to address the above issues:
a) Someone managed to help the participant.
b) Another participant said that the audio is working fine. The problem faced faced by the participant was probably due to network and not due to the software platform.
c) The participant was advised to appoint a proxy to vote on her behalf.
Another participants said that he had some difficulty at first, but after overcoming it, he found the voting to be quite simple and smooth.
Whenever a problem arises, there will be some people who magnify the problem while others who adopted a positive approach to find a solution, including a work around.
I am grateful for people who help to find a solution or workaround.
