Tan Kin Lian - Perspectives Suggestion to phase in ERP 2.0
I give this suggestion to the transport minister on the approach to implement ERP 2.0.

a) Give car owners the option to pay ERP charges using the new system ERP 2.0.

b) Make the charges under ERP 2.0 somewhat  lower than the existing system. This will encourage some owners to switch to the new system.

c) It also allows the new system to be tested with a smaller number of vehicles, so that glitches can be sorted out.

d) When 90% of vehicles have migrated to the new system, i.e. ERP 2.0, a timeline can be set for the existing system to be discontinued.

e) The charges under ERP 2.0 can be deducted against the server based account managed under SimplyGo.

I expect that this process may take a few years.

It is also possible that ERP 2.0 may fail, due to technical issues. If so, the owners can switch back to the current system.
