Tan Kin Lian - Perspectives Will SimplyGo fail?

The SimplyGo platform processes the fare calculation in the back end server. This is a different technology compared to Ez Link which does the calculation at the device.

Is there a concern that the SimplyGo system will not work if the internet is down?

I think that this risk is small, for the following reasons:

a) The internet is quite stable. It is being used for digital payment, ordering and other activities.

b) It is possible to develop redundancy in the system by using several internet providers. If one fails, the other can be used.

c) Even if the entire internet is down, which is quite rare, the operators can open the fare gates and allow the commuters to have a free ride.

I think that it is all right to move to SimplyGo entirely.
