Alternative shipping route to bypass the Straits of Malacca
There are two proposals to divert shipping from the crowded Straits of Malacca.

One proposal to build a land bridge to connect two ports in Thailand. This will allow goods to be discharged at one port and transported by land to the other port. The cost of this land bridge is S$38 billion.

I think that this proposal is not feasible. It will be too costly to unload the goods, transport them on the land bridge and reload them on a ship at the other port.

The second proposal is to build a canal across the Kra Isthmus. This canal is estimated to cost 28 billion USD (S$ 38 billion). This will allow the ship to sail through the canal and bypass the congested Straits of Malacca. It will save on fuel and shipping time.

In my opinion, the canal is feasible and is likely to be proceeded. It will reduce the ships that stop at the Port of Singapore .
