Create a platform to receive business mail
There were 83 million domestic mail delivered in Singapore for Apr to Jun 2022. The average is 912,000 mails a day.

Most of the domestic mail are probably sent by businesses. I suspect that advertising flyers are not included in this statistic because they are probably distributed by contractors.

Domestic mail delivery dropped by 14% over 2 years, comparing the volume in this quarter against the same quarter two years ago.

It appears that many people are now opting to dispense with mail sent by business.

There is an opportunity to set up an online platform for recipients to receive PDF from business entities, rather than to receive the physical letters.

The business entity will send their mail to this platform using the address of the recipient. They already have the address of the recipient in their record. Instead of printing out the physical letters and sending them to the mailing address, the business entity can send the PDF to this platform.

The individuals who wish to receive their mail in the form of PDF sent to this platform can register their intent in this platform. The business entity can check the platform to find out the addresses that have opted for this mode of delivery.

If 50% of the recipients choose this option, the volume of domestic mail will reduce by 50%.

It is easier for the recipient to check their virtual mail through this platform, instead of logging into the website of the individual business entity.

I hope that IMDA take the lead to introduce this change.
