Do not over react to stolen personal information
My friend in Australia said.

Optus informed that it had been a victim of a cyberattack. The telecom company sent me an email yesterday:

My personal identity information were stolen. I will have to change my driving license and Medicare card. I probably will also have to change my email Optus email address, bank accounts passwords, etc. ...... so much of hassle.

TKL replied.
If you don't change any of these items, what could happen to you? Frankly, nothing.

I think it is not worthwhile to take the trouble of changing any of these accounts or cards. If I were you, I would not bother to change my email address.

Many people know my email address, but they do not know my password. Even if they do, they cannot login to my email account because they are using a different device and Google will send a SMS to me to verify that it was me that was logging into my account.

Your email is safe. Do not create trouble for yourself and your friends when you change your email.

Even if they know your driving license number, they cannot use it.

How they they use your Medicare card? I am sure that the doctor will not treat a patient who quote your Medicare card, when he is not the person named in the card.

Our stupid ministers and bureaucrats scare people into thinking that the sky will fall down if your email address or NRIC number is known by other people. These bureaucrats are idiots, same as most ordinary people who do not think critically.
