China Can China help to end the war in Ukraine?
The Australian foreign minister, Penny Wong, asked China to help find an end to the war in Ukraine. 

She believed that China can influence Russia to negotiate with Ukraine to find a peace settlement. 

She missed one key element. She has to get Ukraine to agree to ask China to play this role. She must also ask America and the European Union to give backing to the role that China can play.

China is unable to play any meaningful role as long as Ukraine, America and the EU wishes to continue the war to weaken Russia. 

If both sides to the conflict (and the Ukraine side includes America and EU) agrees for China to play a role, can China be trusted to act fairly in the interest of both sides and for the world?

I think that China can play this role. 

Right from the start, China has held the position that both sides should negotiate and find a peaceful settlement to their dispute. Military conflict should be the last option. 

China has friendly relations to both Russia and Ukraine. It can play a meaningful role to find a solution to end the conflict. 

The next step is for Ukraine, America and EU to ask China to help find a settlement.
