Employers should change their approach towards job interviews
I saw a post in social media that an employer canceled a job interview when the applicant ask to be interviewed virtually.

Who do we blame?

Should we blame the applicant for not appearing in person for the interview, or the employer for not agreeing to interview the applicant virtually?

I blame the employer.

The employer should carry out the interview virtually, and if the applicant is suitable, arrange the physical interview afterwards.

Many applicants have attended many job interviews in person, and did not get a job offer. They have to waste a lot of time and traveling expenses for each physical interview.

In the old days, it was not possible to interview a job applicant virtually. technology was not available.

Today, it is convenient to interview the applicant virtually.

Furthermore, in the old days, an applicant puts in much effort to apply for a job. When they are selected, they get a job that pays well and provides good benefits. It was worth the trouble to put in much effort to get a good job.

The job market is different today. Jobs are likely to be short term. There is high turnover.

In this new environment, employers should change their approach towards interviewing job applicants.
