Covid-19 crisis
Counter productive to carry out daily covid testing of travelers
I am puzzled by the need for a traveler to carry out a daily covid test for several days on arriving into another country.
I find it to be troublesome and unnecessary.
I do not need to be tested daily when I am in Singapore. Why do I need to be tested daily when I am overseas? My risk of being infected does not increase when I cross a border.
The same reasoning applies to a traveler arriving into Singapore.
The traveler is already required to be tested using PCR on arriving into a country. This is more than sufficient. (Frankly, I think that this is also not necessary).
I prefer to rely on my body to tell me if I need to be tested for infection. If I am sick, I will see the doctor. The doctor can then determine if I am infected with covid.
Most infections are mild and the immune system of the body will overcome them. The infected person will not fall sick. After that, the body will build its natural immunity.
If daily covid testing is counter productive, we should remove it entirely on incoming travelers.
This will encourage and boost the tourism industry and revive the slow economy.
The incoming travelers will help to spread the infection (which are mostly mild), but the spread is small compared to the spread in the local community.
