Do not be arrogant in making judgment
I avoid passing judgment on other people based on incomplete facts.

I share this example of a common behavior.

I posted a view that the dirty toilets are often the result of poor management of the toilet, rather than the bad behavior of the public who use the toilet.

A friend called me and said - Mr. Tan. You may not be using the public toilet. I spoke to the the old man who manages the toilet in Ang Mo Kio Food Center. Let me tell you about what he told me about the dirty habit of the users.

How does this friend know that I do not use the public toilet? Why does he make this assumption? I am familiar with the public toilet that he refers to, because I use that toilet also.

I listened to what he told me that the old man said. Apparently, some users are unhappy with having to pay the $0.10 charge to use the toilet and another $0.30 for the toilet paper. They deliberately dirty the toilet in protest.

I do not condone the bad behavior of the users, but I know that some people are unhappy with having to pay a charge to use the public toilet.

I consider that a public toilet should be provided for the people to use without having to pay a fee. However, this is a separate issue.

I found that some toilets are dirty because they are poorly maintained. Some of the taps are out of order and are not repaired. Toilet papers are not available.

I have seen many clean toilets that are well maintained. If the people have bad habits, these toilets will also be dirty as well.

My purpose of writing this post is to tell people not be make arrogant judgment. They should not assume that they know what is going on, and that other people do not.

They should respect the views and perspective of other people and not make hasty and arrogant judgment.
