Singapore Death sentence and River Valley High case
Dear Mr Tan,
Singapore executed 39 people from 2011 to 2020. Do you think that's too many or too few?
How would you sentence the River Valley High School killer if you were the judge?

I do not have any strong views about the death sentence. except that it should not be mandatory. It should be left to the discretion of the judge on whether the death sentence should be handled out in any specific case.
I do not have any opinion about the River Valley High case. I do not judge based on incomplete information presented in the media.
Generally, I do not make any judgment on specific cases. I leave it to the judge. It is their job.
However, I do form an opinion on general cases, such as the need for mandatory sentencing.
