Covid-19 crisis

Case positive rate
The case positive rate measures the covid cases divided by the number of tests.

This is a more reliable indicator of the infection rate within the community, compared with the number of cases.

If more tests are carried out, we should expect more cases.

The table below shows the number of confirmed cases and the number of tests over the past month.

Around June of this year, Singapore carried out 16 tests per 1,000 population (i.e about 80,000 tests a day). This has dropped to 4 test per 1,000 in December (i.e. 20,000 tests a day).

There is a sharp drop in cases. It went to a high of 3,500 cases a day and it is now at 800 per day.

Could the drop in cases be due to a decrease in testing? The dates shown on the charts are quite difficult to follow, so I am not able to form a conclusion.
