Covid-19 crisis
Covid vaccination should be made compulsory by law
I wish to present the case for covid vaccination to be made compulsory by law.
My reasons are:
1. The benefits outweigh the risk.
2. The decision should be taken by the government, on advice of the medical experts, rather than by individuals acting on their own personal judgment.
3. The cost to society of a large number of unvaccinated people is too high. i.e. the cost of treating the infected people in hospital and the higher spread of the virus among unvaccinated people.
I will make two special points about the compulsory law on covid vaccination:
1. A person may be exempted if he is certified by a qualified doctor that the vaccination is more risky to him (or her), due to his medical condition.
2. The government should provide fair and adequate compensation to a person or his family if the vaccination cost injury or death.
Some opponents argue that the vaccines are not proven to be safe. I disagree with the argument. The safety of the vaccine should be made by the government, rather than the individual.
There is another argument that the government should not make make vaccination compulsory as there is a risk that it may be harmful to large number of people.
We should trust the government, who is elected democratically by the people, to make the right judgment on this matter.
I wish to point out that the government already has the power to declare war on another country, and that decision can cost loss of many lives and property. A decision to make vaccination compulsory falls in the same category.
I suggest that the government can carry out a referendum on this issue and let the people decide - should vaccination be made compulsory?
