Covid-19 crisis High covid deaths during the endemic phase
I told a doctor that I was surprised with the high covid deaths during the endemic phase. 

I expected a daily average of two deaths, but it appears to be above ten. 

He told me that he was not surprised. 

Each year, many elderly and vulnerable people die during the flu season. This year, the flu deaths are replaced by the covid deaths. 

He was talking from his experience in dealing with elderly patients. He did not check the actual data, which may convey a different situation. 

I will try to find out if the the total of covid and flu deaths in Singapore in 2021 exceed the total in past years. This is called "excess deaths".
