What is an acceptable monthly subscription rate for online content?

Many newspapers are struggling with reduced subscriptions from their printed content.

They tried to move to provide online content. Most of them failed.

They adopt the wrong pricing model. They want to charge about $30 or more a month for their online content.

They experimented with a reduced rate of (say) $1 for the first few months. After that, it reverts to their normal rate.

I enrolled with an online paper on their promotion rate. They made it difficult for me to cancel the subscription. After that, I refused to consider any online platform that offer a reduced promotion rate.

Recently, I subscribed to the Asia Times. They charge $10 (USD) a month. They provide a daily email of their online content. They also have YouTube discussions with experts.

I find the business model of Asia Times to be good. I am prepared to pay $10 USD per month for online content. I find their independent journalism to be quite good. I also like their video interviews.

I hope that Singapore Press Holdings will study this business model.
