Extensive cabinet reshuffle
I am concerned about the "extensive" Cabinet reshuffles that has been announced today.

Seven ministers are changing their portfolio.

While change of ministers may be necessary and, on occasion, useful to introduce change, an extensive reshuffle may be counter productive.

A minister, no matter how capable a person, needs some time to understand a ministry to be able to contribute well.

It is also necessary for the people in the ministry to know the minister and learn how to work well under his or her leadership.

If a change is made within a short time, say less than three years, it will be disruptive for the civil servants in the ministry and the general public that is served by the ministry.

I see that the ministries of transport and education will be getting a change of minister in less than one year. Is there a need for these changes?

If too many changes are being made at the same time, the whole government could be disrupted while it takes time for the new ministers to get used to their new portfolios.

I can only hope for the best.
