Al Jazeera report on Xinjiang
I watched this video from Al Jazeera about Xinjiang.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9aLNxcokOE
I thought that Al Jazeera would be impartial as they are not part of the western media. Their report suggested that the China government had been oppressive to the Uighur minority.
I also saw the testimonies by some of the Uighur people in the UK Parliament and US Senate.
My common sense tells me that the truth may be quite different from what is shown in this video.
a) What does the China government gain by oppressing the Uighur?
b) There are other reports that suggested the China government is helping the Uighur to preserve their culture and religion and improve their economic status and livelihoods.
c) It seems probably that the unrest were being instigated and financed by western powers who were out to destabilize China
d) Suppose the people who testified against China were also paid by these western powers and were given promise of asylum and a better life in the western countries?
e) The western powers wants access to the resources of Xinjiang and also to block China's access to the neighboring countries of Asia under the Belt and Road Initiative.
As I pondered over this issue, the balance of probability is that the western powers are instigating the unrest in Xinjiang and are also using some of the Uighurs to tell lies to the media. It is quite likely to be a charade.
