Cashless payment at food courts in Thailand malls
Many people have visited food courts in malls in Thailand. They will be familiar with what I describe below.

The stalls in the food courts do not accept cash. The customer has to go to the customer service counter to take a stored value (SV card). They give the currency notes to be credited to the SV card.

They use the stored value card to pay at the stalls. The customer can withdraw the balance in the SV card.

The customers accept this mode of payment, although it is somewhat troublesome to get the SV card and to withdraw the balance. They accept that this is the mode of payment in the food court.

It would be more convenient if the customer can keep the SV card and use it at other outlets within the country. The customer can top up the SV card at ATM machines, or through internet transfer or at top up outlets.

The eCash card that I propose works on the same concept, except that it can be recognized universally in the whole of Singapore. It will be issued by an entity approved by the government.

When the people get used to this mode of payment, they will find it to be convenient. They will like it.

Do you agree?
