Economy after the pandemic

Work from home
The pandemic has caused a change in the working life. During the lockdown (or circuit breaker), people have learned to work from home. Schools have implemented home based learning.

The new mode of work and study will continue after the crisis is over, but on a reduced scale. Maybe half of the activities can be conducted from home. Perhaps the workers can work from home for two or three days a week.

Working from home has its advantages. It saves 2 hours or longer in travel time. The quality of life will improved.

With teleconferencing facility and work monitoring platforms, the productivity of the worker can be higher than working in the office.

To give the supervisor the additional comfort that the worker is working from home, a CCTV can be installed at the home work place. To ensure privacy, the CCTV can be set to operate only during the expected working hours. It can be turned off outside of the working hours.

This arrangement is necessary because it may be difficult to monitor the quantity of work done in many situations. This is why work is usually done in the office where the supervisor can keep an eye.

I expect that the worker will accept the CCTV installation in return for the privilege to work from home and enjoy a better quality of life.

We have to make and accept changes to the working life to make work from home a viable option.

The same changes is needed for study at home.

It is time to make the change. The lockdown forces this change of habit for a period. We can make this change into a permanent arrangement.
