Ministry of Manpower
Apply for Letter of Consent
I find the Ministry of Manpower to be very inconsiderate in the design of their website.
After a lot of trouble, I managed to login and find the webpage to submit details to apply for a letter of consent to employ a worker who has a dependent pass.
The website expects the employer to submit details that are difficult to provide, such as the occupation code. Even the entry of the address of the workplace is quite troublesome.
I came to a page where I have to answer several questions. One of my entry was ignored by their website.
When it came to the final submission - which took a lot of effort and easily half an hour of time, I was asked to confirm all the details.
I found that one entry was not received. I had to search all over the page for the [Edit] button. It was difficult to find, as I was using a laptop and the screen was presented in small letters.
After I found it, I was not able to edit that field. The option button refuse to work. After trying several times, it was finally accepted.
Before I could submit the application, I was asked to get the worker to sign a form. I had to download the form and send it to her. It was in a DO format, which I could not open. Why does MOM use an unfamiliar format?
The MOM website is used by many employers, workers and agencies. I hope that they can improve the design of the website and simplify the process. It is really a big waste of time that is imposed on the public.
