Why do we need a complicated Medisave deduction form?
This is the Medisave deduction form. It is a complicated form that require a lot of details to be provided.

The CPF member has to sign this complicated form to authorize deduction from his Medisave account. This form has been used for several decades.

What is the purpose of having such a complicated form that takes up a lot of time for the staff to enter the details? How does it protect the CPF member from being cheated?

Does CPF expect the member to read the form in detail before signing it?

We can get rid of the unproductive work as follows:

a) Ask the CPF member to sign on the bill to authorize the deduction.
b) Make the hospital or clinic responsible to ensure that they are deducting the appropriate amount.
c) Send a SMS to notify the CPF member of the amount deducted.
d) Allow CPF members to view their Medisave account online.
e) Make the relevant changes to the CPF Act to allow the simplified process to be followed, including the need to give the relevant information to the authorized parties. (There is no need to give individual blanked approval).

This process should be as seamless as payment using a credit card.

Let us get rid of the unproductive work and simplify the process of using Medisave to pay medical bills.
