Use existing drugs to treat covid-19 patients
This article in the New York Times said that nearly 70 drugs and experimental compounds may be effective in treating the coronavirus, as reported by a team of researchers.

Some of the medications are already used to treat other diseases, and repurposing them to treat Covid-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, may be faster than trying to invent a new antiviral from scratch, the scientists said.

I agree with this approach.

I suggest that MOH adopt the following approach:

a) Get the patient's consent to try out a recommended drug from this list.

b) As the drug has already been approved for use, they are not likely to cause serious side effects. It is better than not having any drug.

c) Record the progress in a database for further study.

d) If one drug does not work, try another drug.

If this protocol is approved, the doctors are empowered to use their knowledge to select the drug that is best for the patient.

We need someone to take the responsibility. During the current pandemic, we have to take action fast to find the solution. We cannot afford to take a year or two for a drug to be fully tested. The patients would have died in the meantime.

Vote - the health authority should authorise the doctor to use the list of 70 drugs that the treatment of covid-19 patients.
