Use cruise ships as temporary hospitals
During the current covid-19 epidemic, cruise ships have stopped their operations. Their customers stop joining cruises because of the fear of infection from other sick patients.

The government can charter these cruise ships to be used as temporary hospitals for the treatment of the infected patients.

All the facilities are available - cabins, showers, food, sanitation, ventilation etc.

The cruise ships will be anchored. They will not sail.

The revenue will be helpful to the cruise operators. It is better than not having any revenue.

The crew can be trained to be care givers or to provide basic nursing care.

I hope that this idea is explored actively.

Will the use of the cruise ship for this purpose give a bad name to the ship? I believe that it will give a positive image for the good that it has served.

The ship can be fumigated regularly to kill the virus. It should be safe for each new batch of passengers.

It should be serve when the ship is returned later for the regular cruise business.
