Covid-19 crisis

MP wear a mask to visit an infected person

Mr Tan
I am not taking sides but I think Mr GMS does have a point. A ruling party MP has responded to a Facebook post by an opposition politician that criticized her for wearing a mask during a visit to a block with one of Singapore’s coronavirus patients. In her response on Facebook the same day, Ms Cheng said: “One of our residents here at Tampines East is a confirmed patient of the nCoV.” She explained that she had gone to the patient’s block to help the Tampines Town Council with its cleaning operations there. She added: “I also stopped by the quarantined home briefly, and dropped the family a card with the CC’s contact details should they need help. I left them some freshly baked bread and groceries at their door for them to bring in after we left.”

1. In the first place since she already knew the person is infected, why is she visiting the infected person? She thinks she is "Wonder Woman". She is not designated to provide emergency services.

2. If just for a brief contact with the family (not the infected person) she already is protecting herself with MASK. What about the residents staying next to the infected person on a 24/7 basis. Shouldn't she be donating mask to the residents of the block instead.

3. MP also claim she gone down to the patient's block to help Town Council with its cleaning operations. Honestly, can she declare whether at home who exactly does her cleaning? Her maid or herself. If she is so free, just what is the percentage of times she attends parliament sessions?

4. The family is not destitute that need a highly paid part-time MP to bring some freshly baked bread and groceries left at their door. In Singapore today, there are 2277 charity organizations and the number is growing. Why not spend time and effort towards these charity organizations. The growing number suggest our government is not doing enough for our society.

Many would agree with Mr GMS. We need to stop these wayang. There are no OSCAR awards given out during the 7th Month Festival. At a time of crisis, where is the dignity and sincerity in helping the most needed. There are tens of infected persons confirmed. If this MP is genuinely, she would be going to each and every infected person block / apartment or house to help clean. In addition, the option of leaving freshly baked bread and groceries are optional for her. We need genuine politicians who truly cares and not part-time actor or actress.
