Ministry of Law
Alternative to POFMA
The govt has to pass a ridiculous law called POFMA. It is now being used to deal with alleged false statements issued by opposition parties. In some cases, these are just alternative opinions, but the minister invoked POFMA in an unfair way.
What is the alternative to a law on POFMA?
I am often the target of personal attacks, which I suspect to come from PAP sympathizers. This is how I deal with them.
a) If the attacks are in my Facebook page, I delete them. If it is egregious, I ban the commenter.
b) If it is in a fair media, I present my point of view.
c) If it is in an media that is biased towards me, I ignore the attack. Let the media feed nonsense to their partisan audience.
I do not wish to invoke the law of defamation. It only benefits the lawyers on both sides. I expect it to be difficult to win a case against the "connected parties".
I wish that we have a society that is more mature and more fair. But this requires the people in power to take the lead and set a good example. We need better people to be in charge of our nation.
