Provide direct exits for MRT stations
I took the MRT to One North station and wanted to go to Pixel building. I got lost, in spite of having Google Map to guide me.

What is the problem?

The One North station comes out to a building called Fusionpolis. It is connected to other buildings, e.g. Galaxis. I did not want to go to any of these buildings. I just wanted to get out to the main road and look for Pixel building.

I had to depend on Google Map to get me out. However, Google Map did not have clear demarcations of the nearby buildings. I could not locate Pixel building.

I had to ask someone for the way.

What should be the correct way? Here are my views.

a) Each MRT station should have clear signs to the Exit that bring the commuter to the main road. Do not force the commuter to enter a mall which does not have clear sign on the exit to the main road.

b) On the exit, there should be a site map that shows all the buildings nearby, and also the bus and taxi stops.

When I was in Kuala Lumpur a year ago, I took the MRT. At the station, the main exit is to the main road. If I wanted to go into a mall, I had to enter by its front entrance. I found this to be a better arrangement.

I hope that the town planners in Singapore give better attention to the needs of the commuters, rather than the mall owners.

Minister Khaw - are you listening?

Tan Kin Lian

Vote - do you agree that the MRT stations should have clear signs to the exit into the main roads?
