Realities about democratic systems
This is a translation of an article in Chinese. I am not able to locate the source of the article.

Democracy must face 5 cruel realities:

1) The first cruel reality: a Democratic one-man-one-vote system often elects incompetent and even irresponsible leaders.

2) The second cruel reality: democracy cannot solve the problems of poverty and backwardness. How many democracies in the world are beginning to be advanced because they have adopted democracy? Look at India, the Philippines ... Wait, they adopted democracy for decades, and the problem of poverty and backwardness has been solved?
Ukraine has adopted a democratic system for more than more than 20 years, but the economy has deteriorated, the original diplomacy has always been neutral, but because of the need for external financing and was forced to choose side (NATO or Russia) as a result of the violent overthrow of the elected president, resulting in a pro-Russian and pro-Western civil war, the country broke.
The reality is that the Western developed countries have adopted democracy only after they have developed, and there are signs that the economies of some developed democracies are getting worse.

3) The third cruel reality: democracy and "Freedom of speech, freedom of the press" are fundamentally different things. The reality is: how many of these democracies are really called "freedom of speech and freedom of the press"? Does America count?
Their consortia and interest groups control the mainstream media, can we believe that these interest groups are paying to run the media in order to uphold "freedom of speech, freedom of the press"?

4) The fourth cruel reality: Democracy and "people are masters of the country" are two different things. The reality is: in many democracies, there are a few that really call it "the people are masters of the country"? Does America count? Politicians need a lot of money and media support before they are expected to win universal suffrage. This (money and media) is exactly what consortia and interest groups can offer. How can these politicians not serve the consortium when they win the general election?
Therefore, it is more appropriate to say that democracy is "consortium are masters of the country".

5) The fifth cruel reality: this is a world of the jungle, Power politics (undemocratic). The reality is that, although there are more than 190 States members of the United Nations, all Member States must comply with all the resolutions of only 15 members of the Security Council (including the imposition of economic sanctions or the use of force against a sovereign state), and there are 5 permanent members of the Security Council with veto power

Vote - do you agree with this observation about the flaws in democratic system? It does not say that democracy is worse than other systems.
