Political systems
Democratic systems are falling apart
Many countries with democratic constitutions follow the American or the UK system.
Both systems seem to be falling apart.
Here are my views.
America believe in the system of separation of powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
Often, the executive and legislative branches comes under different political parties. This has led to grid-lock, i.e. inability for the government to decide.
At present, we have a president (executive branch) and his cabinet acting in conflict with the congress (including the people from his own party).
This shows the flaw in the American system of separation of powers.
The parliamentary system in the UK is not doing well either. Parliament cannot agree on the terms of their departure from the European Union (Brexit).
The leadership in democratic countries is in crisis. Democracy is falling apart. We need reform.
