Time to put a stop to hazing activities for national service enlistees
The tragic death of Corporal Kok Yuen Chin should not have happened.
Ragging, also known as hazing, should be banned permanently, not just in the Singapore Civil Defence Force, but also in the Singapore Armed Forces.
Without a complete ban, tragic incidents will happen again.
The ragging activities appear to be silly, sickening and sadistic, with an element of bullying.
There are better and more meaningful ways to celebrate the end of full-time national service. It is a time for celebration, not humiliation.
