Prime Minister Office E-payment in mall in Thailand
When I visited a food court in a mall in Thailand, I cannot pay cash. I have to pay by a card.

I was directed to the customer service counter. I gave cash to the staff who issue me with a payment card with the amount entered into the card.

I had to pay for my purchases with the card. The stall enter the amount into a device and I tap my card. That's it. It is quite easy.

After my party has completed the meal, I go to the customer service counter to get a refund of the unused cash. 

If many food courts use a similar system, I do not mind keeping my money and the card for future use.

I understand that Kopitiam uses a similar system in their food courts. The customer buys a card from a kiosk and pays with the card. 

What we need is a universal card that can be used in all the food courts and retail outlets in Singapore. This card can be operated by an entity like NETS or EzLink. 

It is easier to use a card, rather than QR payment (which requires a mobile phone).

If PM Lee wants to have e-payment adopted widely in Singapore to replace payment by cash, the card payment system is the way to go.
