A better network of buses
Here is my suggestion on creating a better network of buses to complement the MRT system.

a) Singapore will be divided into 10 to 15 towns, e.g. Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Tampines, Jurong East, Jurong West, etc. Each town can also cover the nearby private housing estate.

b) 3 to 5 feeder services will serve each town and bring the residents to the bus interchange or MRT stations. It is possible to get from one part of the town to another using 1 or 2 feeder services.

c) Express bus services will connect the towns. These services will make limited stops and will travel mostly along expressways. It may be necessary to create a bus lane in express ways to avoid congestion.

This system will reduce the number of bus services and lead to greater efficiency. Each bus will be more fully loaded. The traveling time for most commuters will be shortened. The commuters will have to make more transfers, but they already do many transfers when they use the MRT trains anyway.

At present, our bus services have to make stops at every bus stop. This increases the traveling time.

It is also confusing for commuters to learn the routes of so many bus services.  Many commuters have to rely on a mobile app to know what bus service to take. The commuters who are not familiar with the mobile app needs to get help. Under a simpler system, they do not need to rely on a mobile app.
