Covid-19 crisis Excess deaths from covid
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that the excess deaths from covid since the start of the pandemic is 14.9 million, or about 7.5 million a year.  See report.

The number of deaths in 2019 is 55.4 million. See report. 

The excess deaths from covid represent 13.5% (7.5/55.4) of the normal deaths. 

The excess deaths may be caused directly by the covid virus or may be the due to mental or financial stress, or delay in medical treatment, caused by the lockdowns to deal with the pandemic.
